Calgary tour de nuit Society is Hiring
Become part of our passionate and innovative team!
The Calgary tour de nuit Society is one of Canada’s most innovative active and sustainable transportation organizations (ASTO) and will be consolidating a community-based social marketing program that it implemented in 2009 with the ‘Ride the Road’ tour. The ‘Ride the Road’ tour and a series of meetings with key decision-makers in Calgary are credited as the basis of the first grass-roots initiative by commuter cyclists at the municipal level in the City of Calgary.
On February 22, 2010, a City alderman (who was a Ride participant) launched the first phase of an omnibus cycling initiative in conjunction with the Calgary tour de nuit Society. This consisted of a proposal for a study reviewing Multiple Use Pathway speeds and usage by different groups. The MUP system has become the infrastructure most utilized by bicycle commuters to travel to and from work because of the inherent dangers of cycling on streets. It was defeated but the motion returned to the next council meeting as a pathway ‘safety’ review and included a reporting requirement from Administration on a comprehensive cycling strategy. This is the first time the Calgary commuter cycling community has actually set the agenda at the City and the CtdnS summer hiring program will ensure that the pace of these developments remains in high gear.
We are currently looking to hire an unemployed high school graduate for a six month duration to assist in our next phase of program development. This position is funded under the EcoIntern Program and candidates must meet all requirements. The following is a description of the position:
